Change and a Reboot.

So if you read the strip from Thursday, you probably are wondering if we'll ever update properly and on time. The answer is yes, we will update properly and on time. We will have two updates a week. One of them will be drawn by Dan, one of them will be poorly drawn by me. That said, we will update every Monday and Thursday. On Monday, we'll have the strip drawn by Dan, and Thursday we'll have the strip drawn by me. That will change as Dan's drawing skills improve. Once he is able to draw strips more efficiently, he will produce them more often. Probably we'll go up to three updates a week. Dan's two updates will be on Monday and Friday, and I'll have mine on Wednesday. If you're wondering about our credibility to actually update when we say so, we will, because we are producing strips a week ahead of time. We've got the next four strips by Dan and I ready, so we can say we're not gonna miss an update for the next two weeks.

Next thing I wanted to talk about is the comic comment system. We got attacked by bots once, so the comments are now moderated. When there is a new comment, we get notified via email and we have to approve the comment. As the site grows, this system will be hard to keep track of. We got two options, we could turn off the moderation, or integrate the comments with the forum.

If we integrate the comments with the forum, everytime a new comic is uploaded, a new thread will be automatically created in the forum, and the posts made in there will be shown on the page with the comic. This requires you to have a forum account to make a comment.

I'm not too sure on which system to use. I would like some feedback from those who are actually visiting SWIDT. Leave a comment on this post to tell us what you think.

-Ultimate Alfred

Datatron

So Ladytron is currently touring with Datarock right now, and they showed up to my city. For me, it was a dream come true, because I'm a huge Datarock fan. I know their band history pretty well (I think) and I enjoy Fredrik Saroea's old stuff from 2001, (mainly because of Le Theme De Transformers). Because Datarock is from Norway, they don't tour North America often, and I've been waiting to see them live for years.

Of course, most of the people went to see Ladytron, as they are more well known than Datarock (except in my world, where I only learned about Ladytron because of this tour). To prepare for the show I bought Witching Hour so I could enjoy them.

Now onto the review:

Datarock started the show, and they were awesome. They were very energetic, hillarious and they interacted with the crowd. Even though most people didn't know who they were, they're fortunate enough to enjoy the energy that Datarock provided. It's a shame Datarock's album, Datarock Datarock, is nothing like seeing them live.

Ladytron was a disappointment. When I go to a live show, I expect to hear something different, not the same crap they produce in studio. They might as well have lip synced. Although they played very loudly, I would say they were more quiet when compared to Datarock. They didn't interact with the crowd much, and weren't as energetic... but then Ladytron is sort of gothic and their music isn't that energetic. I won't deny that more people there enjoyed Ladytron more than Datarock. I also won't deny that I enjoyed their light show.

After all of this, I learned a valuable lesson. Saying "What's a Ladytron?" when Ladytron comes out on stage is a good way to get someone to punch you in the face. Of course, the punch doesn't hurt if you're a man. Or if you been drinking too much Tequila.

-Ultimate Alfred

Holy crap, they're doing it right.

I had the chance to see Iron Man in an advanced screening last night, and the movie was epic. They should have made the Spider-Man movies like this. While the Spider-Man movies could never capture the real Spider-Man in the comic books, the Iron Man movie does. I blame Robert Downey Jr. for being way too awesome at his job. I don't feel like saying much about the movie, except go watch it. Also, if you're a nerd when it comes to Marvel, stay after the credits.

Some of you think I'll be developing my own Iron Man suit after seeing the movie, and I'd like to say that you're very very right.

-Ultimate Alfred

Ultimate Movie Review: The Forbidden Kingdom

So recently, I watched The Forbidden Kingdom with a couple of my friends. Since I’m not a very good critic at all, I decided, “hey, why don’t I let people read what I thought of the movie anyways!” So here we go:

As the movie opens up, you see a Dragon Ball Z battle between the Monkey King (Jet Li) and a bunch of soldiers. I could have sworn I was watching the live action Dragonball movie, because Jet Li had the Super Saiyan golden hair. He was flying around kicking some ass with some golden stick, but in a retarded way.
Then the title comes up and we learn about this kid named Jason (Michael Angarano) who has an unhealthy obsession with Kung Fu movies (just like how I have an unhealthy obsession with Transformers). He goes to this pawn shop where he buys some more Kung Fu movies and on his way home a gang intercepts him and they use him to steal cash from the pawn shop. The leader of that gang shoots the store owner, and the store owner give a staff that resembles the staff that the Monkey King was using at the start of the movie, and the store owner tells Jason to give it to its rightful owner. The gang chases Jason up a rooftop, and Jason falls off the roof, but before he crashes, he somehow is transported magically to Ancient China or something with that magical golden stick.
So the background story is that in China, the Monkey King battled the Jade Emperor, but the Jade Emperor was never going to win with the Monkey King using his magical staff to defend himself, so he decided to challenge the Monkey King without any weapons or magic. The moment the Monkey King put his staff away, the Jade Emperor turned the Monkey King into stone with magic since the Monkey King could not defend himself. As soon as the Monkey King realized he was doomed, he sent the magical staff to a random place, so that someone will find it and bring it back to him and free him from his stone prison.
It turns out it was Jason ended up with the staff and has to bring it back to the Monkey King. Thus, begins the story of Lord of the Rings: The Asian Version. Jason encounters a wise-cracking master of Drunk Fu (Jackie Chan), a girl named Golden Sparrow (Yifei Liu), and a monk (Jet Li again). They all go on a journey to return the staff to the Monkey King, and that’s pretty much the rest of the movie.
The fight sequences that didn’t involve any kind of magic or special powers were the best ones in the whole movie. The rest were too unrealistic and looked silly. Many people would agree that the best battle in the movie was between Jackie Chan and Jet Li, which was what most of us paid their $12 admission for. Really, this movie was very much like Lord of the Rings, The Karate Kid, Dragon Ball and had some elements of Spider-Man in it. So I decided to do you all a favor, and post a YouTube video of the epic fight scene and save you $12:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Qn2FyCjMVoc

I still recommend you see this movie. With lots of people, because afterwards you can make fun of how wierd the movie was.

-Ultimate Alfred.

Bah weep granah weep ninni bong!

It's been over a month, and finally, there is a comic update! I bet you didn't see that coming.
Stop forgetting about us and subscribe to an RSS feed or two. It would also be encouraged to go to the forum and maybe post something about today's comic in the comic section, and tell me if you see what we did there today.

Also, comic comments are moderated now, so your comments won't show up untill Dan or I approve of it first.

If you're wondering what I've been up to for the past month, a friend and I decided to rick roll one of our lectures at school. We had to go through a difficult planning process and we got our professor involved in it too.

This is one of the reasons why I am Ultimate Alfred.

-Ultimate Alfred

PS.
I bought a car. Turned out to be an alien robot. Who knew?

It's still not the end of SWIDT. Dan and I haven't given up. I think. Anyways, I've got something cool to discuss with you.

When I'm walking in the parking lot with friends who have never seen the car I drive, sometimes they ask me "which car do you drive?". I just simply answer "Oh, it's the one who came to defeat the evil forces of the Decepticons."

That's right. My car is an Autobot, named Saberblast.

I recently installed a car deck into Saberblast, now I wanna take the next step and install a PS2 into Saberblast. I'm not quite sure how to do this because I have no clue how electricity works, I just imagine that it works the way I want it to. When installing the car deck, the person who did the wiring for it told me that they didn't wire the back speakers for two reasons:

1. There were no back speakers, although there is wiring ready to connect to them
2. Wiring the back speakers can blow up the battery or something

I'm not very sure about how true that is, as I've heard about other people who installed new decks and speakers into the same kind of car (97 Toyota Corolla) without that kind of problem. So, ok, really I want to install back speakers AND a PS2. I have many questions about these kind of things, and I'm wondering if anyone could answer them.

1. What kind of back speakers would you recommend? Specifically I'm looking for a set of speakers where right before someone's cellphone rings, they don't emmit that annoying buzzing sound. Size 5 1/2. Will wiring up the back speakers blow up Saberblast?
3. Would wiring a PS2 and a monitor blow up Saberblast?
4. Would wiring back speakers, a PS2 and a monitor blow up Saberblast?
5. Does anyone know if having a PS2 installed in my car will drain the battery significantly while the car is turned off?
6. Should I even bother? I'm not going to use the PS2, except for some days where I just feel like watching DVD's in my car. But then Saberblast would live up to the "more than meets the eye" thing.

This would be an interesting project to work on, and I'm sure that I really want to do this. Any answers to these questions would be appreciated.

No, I won't make Saberblast transform for you.

-Ultimate Alfred

The News!

If you didn't notice, there has been pretty much no activity on SWIDT for about a week. Dan and I may be extremley busy (read: lazy). But it's not my fault there isn't a real update. If you wanna blame someone, then blame the guy who invented midterms.

Dan and I are still not dead. We're doing well, thanks. I may have to belt out some poorly drawn stickmen or something if Dan's hands don't heal from the accident.
Wait... Dan had an accident? Nah, it's just an excuse.

-Ultimate Alfred

I'm proud of me.

Warning: This post will not make any sense unless if you have some background with programming.

So I've been a bit lazy, and all day I've been just working on this website. I added YouTube videos to the forums, I created the RSS feed from the news, and I rearranged the index page of the website.

The old news system did not say who made the news post, so we just ended up leaving our names at the end of the news post. Also the news post was contained in a little box, and it was pretty cramped in that box. Now I can add videos to the news posts and a little bit of formatting to the news posts.

I have a little rant on PHP programming. I actually never realised how frustrating it is. Especially when it comes to modifying someone elses code. There are so many programming styles, and different ways to organize things. The way the developers for PunBB did it was sort of a formal style, but it is also pretty frustrating to edit. Files are randomly included all over the place and they're not compatable with other outside files that I've created. This was pretty frustrating when I was creating my news box thing for the main page.
ComicShout on the other hand was similar to my own programming style and I could understand it. Didn't have to do alot of searching to edit things from there. The problem with creating my RSS feed was really a problem with PHP. A nice thing about using variables in PHP is that you can use variables without declaring them. But if you're copying and pasting alot of code, variables get mixed up and you have two different variables that are supposed to be the same. The PHP compiler will not recognise that the other variable is not supposed to be there and you get results that are not expected. Conclusion: Being able to declare variables in a program is a blessing, not a curse.

I'd also like to say thanks to some awesome guy from New Zealand, for helping me out alot with all that stuff.

All that programming was hard work. I feel like I should drink some Red Bull and jump out of a plane, just like Travis Pastrana:

-Ultimate Alfred
